Each week, dozens of cell phones, keys, wallets, cameras, and other items are found in taxis. Below are some hints for making it easier to ensure you regain your lost item.
- Remove all cell phone locks & passwords, so that your contact list can be scanned.
- If you do not want to disable locks, make sure an "If Lost" contact number appears on the home screen.
- Program "Home", "Mom", and "Dad" phone numbers into your cell phone. Make sure at least one of these numbers has voicemail.
- Keep a business card or piece of paper that says "If lost call...." in your wallet, purse, or camera bag.
- Use a label maker to put your name or phone number on cameras (inside the battery compartment if you're worried about visibility), or un-attractiveness.
- Use War Amps key return service tags on your keychain.
- Never keep documents such as your social security card, passport, or birth certificate in your wallet/purse.
- Always call a major dispatch company for your taxi. Simply FLAGGING a cab, calling a driver on his cell phone, or calling independent cab companies will make it nearly impossible to track down your lost items. Back
